The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby told from the point of view of Nick Carraway. Nick becomes friends with Tom Buchanan, Daisy Buchanan, and Jordan Baker, three kind, welcoming people. Tom and Daisy are married, however Tom is having an affair. Curious, Nick asks the three who Jay Gatsby, his rich, mysterious, next-door neighbor is. None of them know who he is except for Daisy, who's very quiet about it. One day, Nick is invited to one of Gatsby's weekly crazy parties. There he sees Jordan, who he spends a lot of time with. He also meets Gatsby, a kind, normal man who uses the phrase "old sport". Nick soon finds out that Gatsby is in love with Daisy, and they were dating before he went to the war. Soon things get messy between, Tom, Daisy, and Jay.
F. Scott Fitzgerald is amazing. Not only did he achieve in creating the greatest book in American history, but he actually deserves that honor. The simple writing is so brilliant an detailed, you are astonished by every sentence. I couldn't write an entire book that would be as well-written as one sentence in The Great Gatsby. I cried, I laughed, and I couldn't put it down. Definitely stick 'til the end, its worth it. A must-read for anyone who enjoys good literature.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is the story of Charlie. It is written entirely through letters, however he wants to keep himself anonymous, so he changes the names of himself and everyone else. He is a freshman in high school, whose goal is to make at least one friend before the end of the year. He is not bullied, he is just lonely. Finally, he finds those people. Patrick and Sam, brother and sister. They are both seniors who love partying and having fun. They bring him into their little group of drinking, drugs, dating, and sex. Charlie soon develops a crush on Sam, but decides to ignore it and remain "just friends". However, this remains a more difficult task than initially thought. Eventually, the plot gets deeper, and the subjects of rape, abuse, and homophobia come up, making The Perks of Being a Wallflower deeper than it initially seems.
This is a fantastically written book. It is sad and funny and suspenseful all at the same time. I literally could not put it down, which lead to me reading it in less than 24 hours! It is a must-read for any high-schooler or adult. I feel like this is the only book that is willing to dig deeper than the others and address the more mature problems of high school. I hep the movie will be just as good.
